📱 How to Enable and Use Driver SMS in Tarot Routing

Tarot Routing’s new Driver SMS📱feature allows drivers to send text messages directly to customers through the Tarot Routing platform. Messages are sent using your organisation’s SMS configuration (via Twilio), perfect for fleets where drivers use personal phones or shared devices.


This feature is the first building block of our upcoming Tarot Communications module, designed to improve collaboration between Planners, Drivers, and Customers at every stage of the delivery process.


🚀 Why Use Driver SMS?

  • Protect driver privacy: Messages are sent via Tarot, not from personal numbers.

  • Consistent branding: All customer messages come from your organisation’s SMS sender.

  • Improved accountability: Messages are logged within the Tarot system for better visibility.

  • Future-ready: Forms the foundation of the new Tarot Communications suite for warehouse, driver, and customer messaging.


⚙️ Step 1: Configure SMS in Organisation Settings

Before enabling Driver SMS, ensure your organisation is configured to send SMS via Twilio.

  1. In the Admin Panel, go to Organisation Settings > SMS Configuration.

  2. Enter your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and From Number.

  3. Save your settings.

If you are already sending SMS using Events and Actions this has already been setup

💡 Tip: If you’d prefer, the Tarot team can manage SMS configuration on your behalf. Contact us for assistance.

📲 Step 2: Enable Driver SMS in App Settings

Next, enable the feature for your drivers:

  1. Still in the Admin Panel, open Organisation Settings > App Settings.

  2. Tick the Enable Runsheet Driver SMS checkbox.

  3. Click Save.


This tells the Tarot Driver App that drivers are allowed to send SMS messages through Tarot when they load their runsheet or scan a Runsheet QR code.


🚚 Step 3: Sending a Message from the Driver App

Once enabled, Drivers will see a new Send SMS from Tarot option in the communication modal:

  1. Open the Runsheet in the Tarot Driver App.

  2. Next to each customer with a phone number, tap the 📱 Phone icon.

  3. The communication modal will appear — now with a third option:

    • Call

    • SMS (via the phone)

    • Send SMS from Tarot ← new option!

  4. Tap SMS from Tarot, compose your message, and hit send.

Your message will be sent via your organisation’s Twilio account, not the driver’s device, keeping communication centralised and professional.


🧠 Coming Soon: The Tarot Communications Module

This new feature marks the start of a much broader initiative, the Tarot Communications Module, which will include features like:

  • Two-way driver ↔ planner messaging

  • Customer replies - Updating planners and drivers to act when there is an issue

  • AI powered automation - Reschedule deliveries to a different day and much more

  • Tarot Support
